We are Shane and Desirae Carlton, and we started Broken Plow Farm in 2021. We may be a small farm right now, but big changes are slowly happening…join our herd to stay in the know!

Desirae is a second-generation farmer growing up raising beef cows and breeding horses. Shane is a first-generation farmer living his dream of owning the family farm raising cattle. We live on the Carlton Family farm established in circa 1823, in Kellyton, Alabama

We sell hormone and antibiotic free, pasture raised beef to health-conscious individuals who want to provide their families with nutritional options from a trusted local farm.

We chose to start selling beef first because Desirae refused to eat most grocery store beef and Shane thought she was snobby for doing so until he ate our first cow we raised and processed. He now understands! We also want to offer other families the opportunity to buy local beef and not rely on a poisoned, failing commercial food chain being driven by big ag that doesn’t care about the health of the end-consumer.
